About the Event

EVERYDAY PLACES will feature percussionist Karen Smith and artistic organizations Sistahs Laying Down Hands, Philly Jawns, and Tomorrow's Girls offering sustainable art-making workshops in partnership with The Silk Tent International Boutique.

Activities will include:

Drummer Circle, Show and Tell, Poetry and Crafts that speak to the theme of “Heartbeat & Healing: Public Art in Public Spaces''. Community members interested in deepening their engagement will have opportunities to perform, present or curate additional artistic work.

This Everyday Places Artist Partnership event is partnered and sponsored by The Barnes Foundation & People's Emergency Center (Barnes West). This summer, Barnes West paired 5 social-impact artists with an “everyday” location, so artists could create participatory and interactive artistic projects by, with, and for the West Philadelphia community.
